Axel

I would like to introduce you to Axel. He was one of the kids that brought a smile to my face this week. He was the only one who shouted out the Bible verses at the top of his lungs and he was just always enthusiastic about everything we learned.
Friday was the last day and we learned about "Glory" and it was all about the hope of heaven.
Axel, with eyes wide open and hands motioning in the air, "... You mean when we die we go up in the sky, into space, to another world!?"
Teacher: "YES!"
Axel, standing there, in sheer amazment, shouts, " WHOA.... COOL!"
I guess you had to be there to really experience the full cuteness of it all, but it just made my week.
The day before he did the same exact thing, but we were talking about salvation and Jesus dying on the cross. I wish I could remember that one fully because it was great!

VBS 2009

I decided to start writing again. Hopefully I will write more frequently then I have been.

I realized this is my 4th summer in Battle Mountain helping with VBS. It is fun to come back every year to see how much the little kids from the church have grown and to see the kids from the community come back every year for VBS. It is truly a great mission down here in Nevada. In VBS we are learning about. "The King is Coming" and how we must prepare our hearts for the day when he does come.
I am helping in the Kindergarten class again. It is a blast. We have about 16 little munchkins in our class this year. It varys from day to day. Today, our class was so big we had to send some of our kids to a different class! I am also invlolved with the skit production. The skit is about Prince Alexander and his new friend Jo who learn how to take good care of 'Covenant Kingdom' while the king is away. Jo learns about keeping promises and that though we are forgiven when we sin, there are still consequences for our actions. It really is a wonderful production and the kids LOVE it.
Today in the skit, I ( being Jo) was asked to guard the Royal crown of the Prince while he took a nap. I wasn't supposed to touch it. When I was trying to decide whether or not to put the crown on (because what would be the harm in wearing it just for a second?) all the kids in the audience were yelling at me NOT to put the crown on because I was told not to by the Prince. Of course, I put the crown on any way, but it was hard to say my lines ( and it was hard not to laugh) while the kids were yelling. It was the highlight of my day. At least they know that it's not good to take things when people tell you not to. (:
Besides that, everything is great down here in the old 'BM' ( to make that clear, that stands for Battle Mountain...)

HOME

This quarter has been very busy with friends, work and keeping up with school work. I haven't had much time to write, but here I am now. School has been an awesome experience so far. The friends I have met so far are the best and God has really opened my eyes to many things in the past couple months.
I managed to accomplish many great things while at college:
#1: Take my friends to get PHO (it is their favorite food now )
#2: Go to sleep at 4 in the morning (multiple times)
#3: accidentally sleep through class
#4: spell my professors name wrong on a cover page for a paper ( funny story actually)
#5: Start a private club in the Ashton stairwell ( for eating bagels)

These are just a few of the many great things that I have done at SPU (:

Book Suggestion:
The Reason For God by Timothy Keller

Movie Suggestion:
Batman: The Dark Knight
(
If you like an intense, scary movie)

TV Show Suggestion:
Psych

Merry Christmas!

Thoughts On School

The school experience has been fantastic so far. Being in a new place with new people and a new schedule has been weird, but wonderful at the same time.
Lately I have been thinking a lot about what I want to major in and it has been a
very hard choice. I am praying that God will show me what he wants me to do with my life.
For now, I am thinking about not going back to school next year, at least for the first quarter, and doing a little traveling. I know it won't be any cheaper than going to SPU, but that is something I know I want to do right now and I am going to try to do it.

Explanation of the pictures:
#1 : Eating PHO : I took some of my friends out to eat PHO because they had never eaten it before . They all loved it as they should because its amazing.

#2: Rubber Face: This picture was taken at Beth's cafe. I will give you the directions on how to make your face look like that in a picture.
Step one: Relax your face. Gently massage your cheeks to loosen them up.
Step two: Shake your head really fast, making sure your lips and cheeks are loose and free flowing as you shake your head
Step three: Take a picture ( or multiple pictures) during the step two process and make sure the flash is on or it might not work.
ENJOY!

#3: Red Robin: I went to Red Robin with my friends Josh and Mark. Mark decided to tell the waiter that it was my birthday. I am almost positive he knew it wasn't my birthday ( not even my half birthday) but he still brought the gang out to sing me ' happy birthday' and give me a fudge sundae. He told everyone that it was my tenth birthday so people were very confused when I left and saw that I was definitely not ten.

Toms Shoes

Just a quick post to let you know about this really cool
shoe company called "Toms" that gives a pair of shoes to someone in
need for every pair that you buy from them! There was in event
at school today where you could buy them. I encourage you to
go to this website and check it out and let me know what you think!

It's been a long time

It really had been a long time since I wrote in this blog. I just didn't
think that many people read it so there wasn't much motivation to write, but
that isn't fair to those happy few who enjoy reading this.

School is still great! I am actually in my USEM class right now. It is
a class about the psychology of your family. The teacher's name is
Donald MacDonald and he looks like Santa.
I also have a politics class with a teacher who is half deaf, so he always
has to cup his ears when people speak in class and he always has a funny
look on his face and says "EH?" over again until he understands what you
are trying to say.
My other class is tricky. I can't remember if I signed up for "Design Fundamentals" or "Hug a Tree" because pretty much all the videos we watch are all about recycling and being nice to the environment.

We made up a game this weekend which invloves a soccer ball and the ping pong table.
Basically, you play 'around the world' with the soccer ball and no paddles, BUT you need
to make up a sound effect or a small phrase to say whenever you touch the ball.

Things are going really well so far!
